Helen

Helen with Paris, in one of the few pictures which depicts love between the two

Helen, often called Helena or Helen of Troy, is the wife of the Spartan king Menelaus. Her abduction is the catalyst which sparks the Trojan War. After the Judgement of Paris, Aphrodite gives her to Paris. The Argives, united and led by Agamemnon, then send an army to rescue her. She is often resented by the Trojans for the war, though Paris remains enamored. Throughout the book she is seen in sorrow, longing to be back with the Greeks.
